Where We've Spoken
Our speakers have appeared at major conferences, retreats, and convenings including:
Global Keynote Speaker — Solidarity Sunday
Rabbi Brad Hirschfield | January 25, 2026
The Tabernacle, Orchard Park, New York
Clal’s President, Rabbi Brad Hirschfield served as the Global Keynote Speaker at Solidarity Sunday 2026, a livestreamed event hosted by The Tabernacle in Orchard Park, NY, and founded by Eagles’ Wings in partnership with Moral Hearts Alliance. As the largest organization bringing Christian leaders and influencers to Israel, Eagles’ Wings convened the service to call for an end to antisemitism, express support for Israel, and unite people of faith around a shared commitment to justice. The event was broadcast to 1,200 churches and reached more than 250,000 viewers across North and South America, Europe, and Africa. Speaking to a Christian audience, Rabbi Hirschfield explained the significance of the Mourner’s Kaddish and drew on shared Jewish and Christian wisdom, inviting participants to reflect on what it means to live towards a more humane, and just world — one where there is “miraculous possibility,” even amidst real and painful challenges.
The Spirit of the Warrior — General Officer Symposium
Rabbi Elan Babchuck | January 26, 2026
The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Clal’s Executive Vice President Rabbi Elan Babchuck addressed the newest Brigadier Generals—across all forces—at the General Officer Symposium. Rabbi Babchuck’s challenge was to speak to both the operational demands they face in today’s changing military circumstances, and to consider how the personal transitions ahead will impact their spirit. He explored what the Army calls “spiritual readiness”—not religion, but the deeper questions of identity, meaning, purpose, and sources of strength that determine whether individuals and units can regenerate after setback. The reception was deeply encouraging. In a military culture that often separates the tactical from the personal, these leaders embraced the idea that integration isn’t a soft skill—it’s a warfighting necessity. As General George Marshall put it, “The soldier’s heart, the soldier’s spirit, the soldier’s soul, are everything.” For Clal’s leadership, it continues to be a tremendous privilege to bring its approach to meaning-making into a room where the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Safe Havens – Faith, Security and the Nurturing of Community — The Belonging Forum
Rabbi Julia Appel | October 17, 2025
The Globe and Mail Centre, Toronto
Clal’s Senior Director of Innovation, Rabbi Julia Appel, appeared on the panel Safe Havens – Faith, Security, and the Nurturing of Community at the Belonging Forum’s Global Symposium on Belonging in Toronto. Drawing on Clal’s Belonging Project, she explored the four stages of belonging—Noticed, Named, Known, and Needed—while reflecting on the paradox facing Jewish communities today: heightened threat and violence alongside a surge in connection and communal gathering. Her remarks centered on the question of how communities can expand their boundaries of belonging while still creating spaces that are safe, resilient, and deeply rooted in care.
Rebundling of Religion in America — Interfaith Lecture Series
Rabbi Elan Babchuck | August 18, 2025
Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, New York
Clal’s Executive Vice President, Rabbi Elan Babchuck was invited to speak at Chautauqua Institution as part of their Interfaith Lecture Series. He explored the “rebundling” of religion in America—how faith, meaning, and belonging are being reimagined today. His talk built on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s reflections on history as a source of hope in dark times, and Rev. Brian McLaren’s morning talk on finding a new kind of faith. Watch Rabbi Babchuck’s talk as well as the Q&A session.
