Janet R. Kirchheimer

Janet’s collection of poems about the Holocaust and her family, How To Spot One Of Us (Clal, 2007), received endorsements from Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, famed historian Sir Martin Gilbert, and renowned rabbis Harold Kushner and Irving “Yitz” Greenberg. Seduction: Out of Eden, co-authored with Jaclyn Piudik, a modern midrash on the Creation story, was published by Kelsay Books (2022). A Pushcart Prize-nominated poet, her work appears in a wide variety of journals, online publications, and anthologies.

She is the producer of AFTER: Poetry Destroys Silence, a film in which contemporary poets confront the Shoah and discuss the responsibility of art to respond, named one of the best films of 2024 by RogerEbert.com. 

A writing coach and editor, she teaches a virtual memoir writing class for the Marlene Meyerson JCC. Additionally, Janet is a gold-star licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide, giving tours about the first Jewish community in North America founded in 1654, Congregation Shearith Israel. www.janetkworks.com
