Announcing “Shift: Rochester”

As part of the “Every Voice Counts” initiative taking place throughout 2019-2020, the Jewish Federation and the Konar Foundation have partnered with Clal – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership to offer a series of learning experiences, coaching opportunities, and cohort-based fellowships that will help our institutions translate the survey data into actionable initiatives to better serve our communities. We’re thrilled to share the first offering from this project: Shift: Rochester – a seven-week online course on institutional innovation.

Shift: Rochester is a practice-based, seven-week course for Rochester’s Jewish communal leaders that focuses on Design Thinking, Innovation, Changemaking principles, and Institutional transformation. Participants will be invited to adopt a mindset of growth and possibility, and lead similar transformation in their own communities through a series of reflections, practices, and facilitated conversations.

Shift: Rochester will include videos and podcasts from over a dozen leading experts, and will be facilitated weekly by Rabbi Elan Babchuck, Clal’s Director of Innovation. He has two decades of experience in entrepreneurship and innovation and applied those skills to the transformation of a large synagogue in Rhode Island, as well as the founding of multiple organizations and ventures.
