Announcing “Lead: Rochester”

Building on the incredible response to theEvery Voice Counts initiative — both in numbers of respondents and the depth of the responses received — the Jewish Federation and the Konar Foundation are partnering with Clal – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership to offer a series of leadership development and personal growth opportunities all designed to help us continue to build the Jewish Rochester we want for today and for tomorrow.

Participants selected for this initiative,  will enjoy new learning, coaching opportunities, and fellowships that will help our institutions respond to the survey findings,  the realities imposed by the ongoing pandemic, and the future we want to create in its wake — all in order to reimagine Jewish Rochester.  We’re thrilled to invite you to the first exclusive opportunity within this large-scale community initiative, Lead: Rochester.

Lead: Rochester is unlike any other “leadership development” experience you’ve ever had. Blending dynamic text study, deep personal reflection, and hands-on practical applications, Lead: Rochester is about asking the hardest and most pressing questions that this extraordinary moment calls for, and answering them together. Along with about 20 of your peers, you will learn with a world-class faculty team from Clal, study materials built on everything from classical sources to contemporary texts, from a wide array of disciplines, as you build a compelling vision for your own Jewish lives as well as those of the institutions you most love.

Some topics include:

  • On Pluralism You don’t have to be wrong for me to be right
  • On Innovation The one question every innovator must ask
  • On Courageous Leadership How today’s Judaism came to be (and almost never was), and how tomorrow’s Judaism will emerge
  • On Walking Away and Stepping Up How both can be right, and learning how to know which is which
  • On Ethics of Controversy How difference and division need not be the enemies of unity
