The Gospel According to Jerry Opens in New Haven

October 19, 2012

The Gospel According to Jerry, named one of the ten best plays in Minneapolis in 2011, and performed at the Kultur Festival at FAU more recently, is coming to the Jewish Community Center of New Haven on Sunday, November 18th at 2 pm. Written by Rabbi Irwin Kula and Richard Krevolin, this funny and poignant work explores the relationship between a rabbi and a gospel singer who meet at Overeaters Anonymous and come to appreciate each other’s faith. A heartwarming story, this moving play takes a contemporary look at spirituality, bias, stereotypes, and race relations. Starring Kim Yarbrough of NBC’s The Voice and Ryan Lindberg.

The staged reading will be held at 2 pm at the JCC Vine Auditorium, located at the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Road, Woodbridge, CT. A talk back with the writers, directors and actors to follow. Tickets are $18. For more information, click here, and to purchase tickets, click here.
